This Month: Giving and Receiving Feedback

This month, we encourage you to check in with your supervisor on how you are fitting into your role so far. Ask specific questions like those listed below to elicit the feedback you need to keep developing your skills:

  • What has been my best work so far?
  • What area should I focus on improving the most?
  • What should I start doing?
  • What should I stop doing?
  • What should I continue doing that I’m doing well?
  • Who should I be working with more closely?

Consider asking your peers similar questions in order to gain a more well-rounded perspective.

Our system transforms lives by collaborating to achieve mutual success.

You work in a safe, inclusive, transparent environment.

The University of Missouri strives to provide an inclusive, safe and respectful work environment for all employees, including those of all gender identities and expressions. Learn more about the resources available to support our trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming employees.

Inclusion allows each of us to engage in our work to the best of our abilities without obstacles created by standards, norms, practices, policies or our environment. In essence, it means that everyone feels like they belong. But making an environment inclusive for everyone isn’t one size fits all. It takes awareness, skill and effort to make a welcoming and inclusive environment for ourselves and others.
