Dr. Mo Dehghani is Vice Provost for Research, innovation and Entrepreneurship at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. He previously served as a professor of systems and enterprises and mechanical engineering at Stevens. Prior to his time at Stevens, Dr. Dehghani was a professor of mechanical engineering at Johns Hopkins University and the founding director of the Johns Hopkins University Systems Institute. Through this institute, he established collaborative research and application programs with many organizations, including the Department of Defense, the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the Department of Health and Human Services with internal divisions at Hopkins including Johns Hopkins Medicine, the Bloomberg School of Public Health, the Whiting School of Engineering and the Applied Physics Laboratory.

Prior to joining Hopkins in 2008, Dr. Dehghani served as the New Technologies Division leader at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a $1.8 billion, 7,000-employee multidisciplinary applied science and engineering national security laboratory with programs in advanced defense technologies, energy, environment, biosciences and basic sciences. At Lawrence Livermore, Dr. Dehghani helped develop technologies and expand many areas of engineering including biomedical engineering, nuclear engineering, process systems and the traditional engineering disciplines of mechanical engineering, electronics, fluidics and multi-scale modeling and simulations.

Dr. Dehghani earned a doctorate in mechanical engineering from Louisiana State University in 1987. He earned master’s and bachelor’s degrees from LSU in 1982 and 1980, respectively. Dr. Dehghani also completed a postdoctoral National Science Foundation internship at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1988.

Dr. Dehghani will join the University of Missouri System as chancellor of Missouri University of Science and Technology on August 1, 2019.

Search for Missouri University of Science & Technology Chancellor

Search Committee

On August 21, 2018, University of Missouri System President Choi announced a national search for the next Chancellor of the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) campus. “Missouri S&T is an integral part of our UM System and its success contributes to the success of the entire state. Today, I am announcing the beginning of a nationwide search for S&T’s chancellor, which will be led by the UM System HR Executive Recruitment team” Choi said.

The search committee, chaired by Francisca Oboh-Ikuenobe, professor, Geology and Biological Science, and Tom Voss, alumni and trustee, Missouri S&T Trustees, upheld the important task of engaging various groups in order to listen to constituent voices regarding the search and gather feedback and campus perspective regarding the qualities/qualifications of the next Chancellor of Missouri S&T.
