ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The University of Missouri Board of Curators elected Darryl Chatman as chair of the Board and Greg Hoberock as vice chair for one-year terms that are effective Jan. 1, 2021.
Chatman was appointed to the Board in 2017 and is the senior vice president of governance and compliance at the United Soybean Board. He served previously as general counsel for the Missouri Department of Agriculture and an attorney with Armstrong Teasdale, LLP in St. Louis. From January 2015 until January 2016, Chatman served as the deputy director for the Missouri Department of Agriculture.
“I’m honored to be selected to lead the Board of Curators,” Chatman said. “The University of Missouri System is going through an extraordinary time as we are changing our governance structure, growing our research enterprise and enriching our educational offerings across the state. This university system touches millions of lives throughout Missouri, and this board is committed to ensuring the state’s public university is here to serve all of us.”
Chatman currently serves as chair of the Academic, Student Affairs, Research and Economic Development Committee. He also serves on the Board’s Governance, Resources and Planning Committee, and the Finance Committee.
He has earned multiple degrees from the University of Missouri-Columbia, including a bachelor’s degree in animal science in 1997; a master’s degree in animal science in 2001; a master’s degree in agricultural economics in 2007; and a juris doctorate in 2008. Chatman played football at MU from 1992 to 1996. He also earned a master’s degree in public administration from North Carolina State University in 2003.
Hoberock, who was appointed to the Board in 2020, is the founder of hth Companies, Inc., which began doing business in March of 1984 and offers mechanical insulation, industrial cleaning and other services. He began as the general manager and under his leadership, the company grew to a workforce of more than 650 employees doing business in 16 states. Hoberock has served in numerous roles for Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), including Heart of America chapter chair and 2013 ABC national chair.
“It is a humbling experience to be elected to a position that holds a great amount of responsibility related to the future direction of our state,” Hoberock said. “Whether it is educating our future leaders or supporting our researchers uncovering new discoveries that impact us all, it is imperative that this university continue to achieve its mission of helping our state move forward. I am honored to have this opportunity and to be serving with Darryl Chatman, an individual who is dedicated to students and families of Missouri.”
Hoberock is a 1976 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry. He currently serves on the Academic, Student Affairs, Research and Economic Development Committee, and the Finance Committee.
