COLUMBIA, Mo. – Applying to the four campuses of the University of Missouri System will become more convenient, thanks to a new partnership announced by UM System President Mun Choi. Beginning today, the UM System is joining The Common Application, or “Common App,” a non-profit organization that produces an undergraduate college admission application that applicants may use to apply to hundreds of colleges and universities worldwide. Each year, more than 850,000 students use the service to submit more than 3.5 million applications.
“By adding our campuses to the Common App’s network, prospective students can use the service to apply to any of our four UM System institutions, while easily managing all aspects of the process,” said President Choi. “By becoming a member institution of this innovative program, we will increase the visibility of the UM System campuses across the nation and world.”
Prospective students that use the Common App are able to explore and apply to as many of the approximately 700 members institutions in the U.S., Canada, China and several European nations as they wish. Applicants enter their information one time and send the completed application to multiple schools. The Common App system also manages applications in one convenient online dashboard, alerting applicants and guidance counselors when important deadlines are approaching and providing progress on each specific college or university application.
“Our new partnership with the Common App is an important investment,” said President Choi. “We are excited about the potential to increase the number, quality and diversity of our applicants and introduce prospective students to our excellent degree programs.”
