Don V. Kelly joined the Office of the General Counsel in 2021. He represents the University of Missouri System in the areas of technology transfer and intellectual property. He is a registered patent attorney. His responsibilities include managing the legal aspects associated with patents, licensing and other technology transfer activities; registering and protecting university copyrights and trademarks, participating in the enforcement of the university's intellectual property policies and contract rights; and assisting in the development of intellectual property educational programs.
Before joining the Office of the General Counsel, Kelly was in private practice in St. Louis for over 33 years, most recently with Evans & Dixon, where he helped establish its intellectual property practice group. He has litigated patent, trademark and copyright cases in federal courts throughout the United States and has handled appeals in the Eighth Circuit and Federal Circuit.
Kelly is a 1987 graduate of Washington University School of Law. He
graduated from Duke University in 1984 with a BS in Physics and also
satisfied the requirements for a degree in Economics.
