The University of Missouri System Office of Emergency Management acts primarily as a system-wide subject matter expert and coordinator of disaster efforts. Due to the size and focus of the UM System Emergency Management (as a division of the Risk and Insurance Management Department), UM System Emergency Management focuses its primary efforts on the preparedness efforts of the university system. In doing so, it provides guidance, technical expertise and supports other departments, units and campuses in developing and enhancing their own internal capabilities while striving to increase the overall disaster readiness of the entire system.
Vision
To create a disaster resilient University System that will serve as a model for agencies worldwide.
