Dear University community,
We recognize there are some concerns regarding the coronavirus, a respiratory illness that was first identified in December in Wuhan, China. To date, there have been no reported cases of the virus at our four universities or in the state of Missouri. The immediate health risk to the American public is considered low at this time. However, we will monitor the situation closely and remain prepared to address any effects it has on our community. As a preventive measure, due to the Level 3 travel advisory issued by the CDC, university-sponsored travel to China at this time is prohibited.
Leaders on your campus will receive updates from MU Health Care professionals and are communicating with students, faculty and staff on safety precautions, travel guidance and other necessary actions as needed. I will do the same for UM System employees.
Signs and symptoms of the coronavirus include fever, cough and difficulty breathing. If you feel sick and have recently traveled to Wuhan or have been in contact with someone who may have traveled there, seek medical care right away. If you experience symptoms, visit your primary care provider and call ahead to discuss your health and travel history.
